CROSSING VIEWS, A SELECTION OF WORKS FROM THE COLLECTION

I. A retrospective of Cindy Sherman
From 23 September 2020 to 3 January 2021, Fondation Louis Vuitton presents, the first Cindy Sherman exhibition to be presented in France for 14 years. With 170 works – from 1975 to 2020 – the show will consist of more than 300 images. Arranged in a series across more than 1500m², it will include works such as Untitled film stills, Rear Screen Projections, Fashion, History Portraits, Disasters, Headshots, Clowns, Society Portraits, Murals, Flappers and a new series with male figures and couples. The exhibition was designed in close collaboration with Cindy Sherman and will cover her entire career, with a particular focus on pieces produced in the early 2010s, as well as some previously unseen works. The last exhibition of works by Cindy Sherman in Europe took place at the National Portrait Gallery of London from June to September 2019.
II. Crossing views, a selection of works from the Collection
Parallel to this retrospective, Fondation Louis Vuitton presents Crossing Views, a selection of works from the Fondation's Collection which was chosen in collaboration with Cindy Sherman. Echoing her work, the route of the exhibition unfolds across two floors and is centred on the theme of the portrait and its interpretation through different approaches and media: painting, photography, sculpture, video and installation. The exhibition brings together around twenty French and international artists, of different generations and backgrounds. It will consist of around sixty works, many of which have previously never been on display at the Fondation.
