Currently closed because of the health crisis sparked by the COVID-19 epidemic, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is determined to ensure the continuity of its 2020/2021 programming and to present the exhibition “Cindy Sherman” this autumn and “Icons of Modern Art. The Morozov Collection” from February to summer 2021; The programme underlines its commitment to both contemporary creation and to major 20^th Century artistic references.  

I. From September 23, 2020 to January 3, 2021, exhibition

Cindy Sherman at the Fondation Louis Vuitton

From September 23, 2020 to January 3, 2021, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is hosting the first show dedicated to Cindy Sherman since her 2006 solo exhibition at the Jeu de Paume.  “Cindy Sherman at Fondation Louis Vuitton” (initially scheduled for April 2 to August 31, 2020) brings together some 170 works by the artist produced between 1975 and 2020 – more than 300 images from series including Untitled film stills, Rear Screen Projections, Fashion, History Portraits, Disasters, Headshots, Clowns, Society Portraits, Murals, and Flappers, as well as a new set of images presenting male figures and couples.  In a scenography designed in close collaboration with Cindy Sherman, this presentation covers her entire career while also focusing on works she has created since the beginning of the last decade, including a series of very recent and previously unseen works.
 
To coincide with this retrospective, Fondation Louis Vuitton will present “Crossing Views” a selection of works from its Collection, chosen together with Cindy Sherman. Echoing her work, the installed artworks, spread out over two floors, will be centered on the theme of the portrait and its interpretations across different disciplines and mediums: painting, photography, sculpture, video, installation.  The exhibition brings together some 20 French and international artists of different generations and backgrounds through some 60 works, many of which are being shown for the very first time at the Fondation.

 
 
NOTE TO EDITORS: In Gallery 3, as part of the Open Space programme dedicated to emerging artists, the Fondation Louis Vuitton will present five works by Jean Claracq.  The exhibition, which opened just before the confinement on March 7, will be extended to  January 3, 2021. For his first solo exhibition, Jean Claracq presents five works, never shown before.  The works shown within an architectural model , feature young male figures immersed in their virtual worlds and isolated in indoor or outdoor spaces. 
 

II.From February 24 to July 25, 2021, exhibition

Icons of Modern Art. The Morozov Collection

The exhibition of the Morozov Collection, which was initially scheduled to open on October 14, 2020, has been successfully postponed and will take place from February 24, 2021 to July 25, 2021. 
 
The exhibition, which will be shown for five months and will take over all of the galleries of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, will present the masterpieces from the Collection of the brothers Mikhaïl Abramovitch Morozov (1870-1903) and Ivan Abramovitch Morozov (1871-1921), the great early 20^th century Muscovite patrons and collectors who put together one of the most exceptional collections of French modern art (Matisse, Bonnard, Picasso, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Degas, Monet, Renoir, Maurice Denis, Cézanne ...) and Russian modern art (Vroubel, Chagall, Malevitch, Repine, Larionov, Serov …).
 
The exhibition is organized thanks to the remarkable collaboration of the Russian museums - The State Hermitage Museum, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and the Tretyakov State Gallery, and will be an exceptional artistic event in Paris and the first time that the Collection is being presented outside of Russia. Following the exhibition "Icons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection" at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in 2016/2017, the presentation of the exhibition "Icons of Modern Art. The Morozov Collection" will be another major historical moment dedicated to key early 20^Th Century Russian collectors.  There will be a specific communication about the Collection at a later date.

 
 
Special arrangements will be made to welcome the public in strict compliance with government health recommendations to provide visitors as well as the Fondation’s own on-site teams effective protection and peace of mind.
