Fondation Louis Vuitton announces the extension of

 ICONS OF MODERN ART - THE SHCHUKIN COLLECTION

 

The major success of Icons of Modern Art – The Shchukin Collection, which in just 10 weeks has attracted more than 600,000 visitors, has led Fondation Louis Vuitton and its partners,

the State Hermitage Museum, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Art and Tretyakov State Gallery to announce the extension of the exhibition from 20 February to 5 March 2017.

This historical and unprecedented exhibition pays tribute to one of the greatest art patrons of the early 20th century, Sergei Shchukin.

One of the world’s most significant modern art collections, the works have been divided between the Pushkin Museum in Moscow and the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, and are now brought together for the first time outside of Russia.

Fondation Louis Vuitton has dedicated all the galleries of its Frank Gehry designed building to presenting 130 masterpieces, including paintings by pioneers such as, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne, Matisse and Picasso, confronting these with 30 works by Russian avant-garde masters such as Malevitch, Tatline and Gontcharova.

Fondation Louis Vuitton is also announcing an extension to its opening times for this exhibition:

• During the holiday period from 4 to 20 February 2017, the exhibition will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

• During the last week of the exhibition, from Monday 27 February to 5 March, it will be open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and until 1 a.m. on Saturday 4 March.

In addition, every morning, from 7.00am to 9.00am, the Fondation will host “Morning Chtchoukine”, when breakfast will be provided to the public.

• On Wednesday 1 March, the exhibition spaces will be specifically dedicated to children and families.
