Programme #FLVfromhome for the week of June 8th :

  • Wednesday June 10th Annette Messager
Annette Messager, interview
(interview conducted on December 8th, 2014, 5 min., French with English subtitles © Fondation Louis Vuitton / Audiovisit - 2014)

Annette Messager belongs to a generation of artists who, since the 1970s, have been rewriting the language of art. Without stating a specific position, Messager asserts her dual identity as a woman and an artist.
She creates characters that cultivate ambiguity: the “Collectionneuse”, the “Truqueuse”, the “Amoureuse” and the “Femme pratique”, whose imaginary lives are opportunities to expose prejudice and express what is usually left unsaid. In the 1980s Messager began to incorporate fragments of the body through photography, fur and puppets, inserting them in mechanised worlds, focusing on the emotive and symbolic charge of works that reflect the theatre of life in derisory, grotesque or dramatic fashion. In 2005, Messager received the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale, where she represented France.

In this interview Annette Messager talks about her works “Mes Transports”, “La petite ballerine” as well as her relationship to objects.

The interview of Annette Messager is available from Wednesday June 8th at 6 p.m. (Paris CET): https://youtu.be/CGGYdI4eWdE
Video available one week after its upload.

  • Friday June 12th – 8:30 p.m. (Paris CET)
Recital by Beatrice Rana – as part of the New Generation Piano
(recorded on the 20th January 2018, 89 min., © Fondation Louis Vuitton – 2018)

The Italian pianist has continued on the well-worn path of international stages. She does so, however, on her own terms, by introducing the public to works that are dear to the artist, such as those of Ravel, including Miroirs, which he finished in 1906, often compared to Impressionism for the common themes and lustrous colours; and those of Schumann,  including The Symphonic Studies, composed in 1834 by the musician at the height of his art, demonstrating his passion for new possibilities in technique for piano and offering Beatrice Rana the opportunity to showcase her remarkable virtuosity.

Programme:
Robert Schumann - Blumenstück op.19
Robert Schumann - The Symphonic Studies op.13
Maurice Ravel - Mirrors
Igor Stravinsky / Guido Agosti - The Firebird

The recital by Beatrice Rana is available Friday June 12th at 8:30 p.m. (Paris CET): https://youtu.be/MJ47ZVjNJBI

Video available 24 hours after its upload.
